Admissions ReportingIntroductionEach year the university negotiates a Funding Agreement with the Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) which stipulates various targets for enrolments (based on EFTSL - Equivalent Full-Time Student Load) for Commonwealth-supported students. The university can suffer financial penalties for being under-enrolled. Much of the information here is designed to assist in the planning of various admissions processes with the aim of achieving the DEEWR targets and other goals. Prospective students may apply to study at the Australian National University in a number of ways including through the Universities Admission Centre (UAC), by direct application through the Admissions Office in the Division of Registrar and Student Services (formerly Student & Academic Services), or through the International Education Office. The main method of application for domestic students (particularly school-leavers) to ACT and NSW universities is through UAC. The university also receives a number of direct applications each year. Since 2006 applications to study at the Australian National University have no longer been processed through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC).
